Westfield Valley Fair offer

Facebook Places hasn’t long been launched, but brands are already starting to pick up on how they might use the new Facebook check-in functions.

Personally i’m a fan of Foursquare and would prefer to see them win the battle of geo-location giants, but facebook has the advantage of being intrinsically tied in to all the other things going on on the site – the pages you like, the apps, the brand activities – and your friends.

Westfield Valley Fair – a California mall from the finest purveyor of shopping malls – has kicked things off with offers tied in to it’s Facebook page.  It’s kind of like the special offers on Fourquare, but basically you click to ‘like’ Westfield Vally Fair, and then check-in at the mall to unlock a free voucher. Clever.

Westfield London is in on the social media act pretty heavily too so i’m waiting to see if they come up with anything similar soon.
